About Franchisd
Franchisd at franchisd.live is a movie-franchise tracking and social website. This policy describes information used to provide the service. For privacy questions or requests, contact the operator of Franchisd at franchisdwebsite@gmail.com.
Information we use
- Account information: your email address, account identifier, account creation and sign-in information, and the authentication information needed to keep your account secure. Email/password authentication is managed by Supabase; site administrators cannot view plaintext passwords.
- Profile information: your username, display name, profile picture, bio, profile visibility, preferences, and up to four favorite franchises.
- Your activity: tracked franchises, watched films and watch dates, a private franchise watchlist, ratings, written reviews, achievement records, follows, blocks, and private in-site new-film notifications with their read/dismiss status.
- Technical information: requests to the site include information such as your IP address and browser details. The app uses IP addresses for request rate limits, and hosting and authentication providers may process operational, security, and error logs.
Signing in with Google
If you choose Google sign-in, Google and Supabase provide account information such as your Google account identifier, email address, name, and profile-picture URL. We use it to create or identify your Franchisd account, authenticate you, and populate account/profile information.
Franchisd requests basic sign-in information only. It does not request access to your Gmail messages, Google Drive files, contacts, or calendar. Google sign-in information is not used for advertising or sold. You can remove Franchisd's access through your Google Account's third-party connections settings; this does not automatically delete an existing Franchisd account.
How information is used
We use information to provide sign-in, save and restore your library, calculate progress and achievements, display your chosen profile information, support social features, respond to requests, and protect the service against abuse. Authorized administrators can inspect account information and activity summaries and moderate accounts, including changing profile information and banning accounts.
Public profiles and your choices
Profiles are public by default. With a public profile, other visitors can see your username, display name, avatar, bio, favorites, library and watched progress, ratings, written reviews, and social counts. Signed-in members can view visible follower/following profiles. People who follow you can see your public ratings, written reviews, and verified franchise completions in their activity feed. Private profiles and blocked connections are excluded from this feed. Your email address is not shown on your public profile.
You can change profile visibility in Account settings. A private profile limits access to profile/library pages, but does not remove information already seen, copied, or shared by others. Avatar files are stored in a public image bucket; anyone with an avatar's direct URL may still access it even if the profile is private. Do not upload a sensitive image.
Letterboxd imports
A CSV you select is read and parsed in your browser. Parsed film entries, such as film titles, years, and watched dates, are sent to Franchisd for matching against TMDB. Matched film IDs and watched progress are then saved to your account. The import flow does not upload the original CSV as a stored file or request access to your Letterboxd account.
Service providers and external content
- Supabase provides authentication, account/database storage, and avatar storage.
- Google provides optional Google sign-in. Google Fonts also supplies fonts used by the site.
- TMDB supplies film data and images. Film searches and matching queries are sent to TMDB; Franchisd does not send account email addresses or passwords in those queries.
These providers receive information needed for their roles. Loading externally hosted fonts, posters, avatars, or other images can send technical request information directly to the host. Providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to their own policies and service arrangements. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to address abuse or protect the service.
Browser storage
Franchisd uses browser local storage to maintain your sign-in session and cache library information and preferences. Session storage remembers where to return after Google sign-in. Clearing site storage removes those browser copies, but does not delete your saved account data. Access to a shared browser can expose stored sessions or cached information; sign out when using a shared device.
Retention, access, and deletion
Saved account, profile, and movie-history information remains in the service while your account is retained. You can edit your profile, change visibility, and remove or update saved activity using the site's controls. To permanently delete your Franchisd account, open Account settings, choose Delete account, and confirm. This removes your live account, profile, saved activity, social connections, and uploaded avatars. It does not delete your Google or Letterboxd account or copies already shared or saved by others. For a copy or correction of account information, or help with deletion, email franchisdwebsite@gmail.com from your account email address. We may need to confirm account ownership before acting. Do not send your password.
Deleting or changing live data does not necessarily remove copies immediately from provider backups or operational logs. Some information may need to be retained for security, dispute handling, or legal obligations. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over personal information and the right to raise a concern with your data-protection authority.
